How to Verify an Online Certified Copy with the OathsVault™ QR Code

October 5, 2026

A certified copy is only useful if the person receiving it can trust it. Every certified true copy issued through Oaths.co.za™ can be checked in seconds with its OathsVault™ QR code.

What the verification page shows

Each certified copy includes a unique QR code linking to a live OathsVault™ verification page. Scanning it shows:

  • the issuing Commissioner of Oaths

  • the date and time of certification

  • the current verification status of the document

How to verify a copy

  1. Open the certified copy you received.

  2. Scan the QR code with a phone camera.

  3. Check the Commissioner, date and status on the OathsVault™ page.

You can also share the verification link directly with an employer, bank, university or compliance team.

Why this matters

A stamp on paper is hard to check. OathsVault™ records certification details, timestamps, verification events and Commissioner information for traceability, and each verification page is a tamper-evident record. Every certification links to an identifiable, duly appointed Commissioner of Oaths with auditable records.

Which documents we certify

Oaths.co.za™ currently certifies true copies of four documents: South African Smart ID card, driver’s licence, passport and proof of address. We do not administer affidavits, sworn statements, affirmations or solemn declarations.

Will my bank or employer accept it?

Acceptance depends on each receiving institution and its own policies. The QR code lets them verify the copy instantly instead of relying on a stamp alone.
